(218) It's Life, Jim...

...but not as we know it! 

So......today's lesson is all about why we have 'use by dates' on our food. 

This started out as a Chorizo, Kale and Bean soup (Hairy Biker's recipe - Big Soup) but after a couple of weeks of neglect due to being away on holiday and not clearing out the fridge first, it became a thriving culture of some sort of blue/green alien species. I decided against making 'first contact' and instead consigned the whole lot to the watery spiral of oblivion or, in other words, it was flushed down the toilet. A couple of kettleful's of boiling water and half a bottle of Domestos later and I think the toilet will be OK.
