The Japanese Garden

Backblipped for 4th August

On a tip-off from a friend we visited the Japanese Gardens at Cowden, near Dollar.

Along with many others, including two other blippers, we admired the curved pathways, the narrow walkway to the 'island', where the waterlilies were the focus of everyone's photos, stepping stones and the typically Japanese symbols and statues.

We spent some time looking into the water, seeing not only tadpoles but a newt, leeches and, of course, koi carp, three were tucked into a corner by the dam. Above the water a variety of dragonfly/damselfly flew or settled, pond skaters and tasteful reflections plus a few tiny, weeny froglets escaping into the grass.  Many of these are in the two collages.

We went to see the weir, actually an early source of hydro-electric power, then, when the clouds began to darken we headed back to the car before forecast rain arrived.
