A Big Lamp

Today I drove down to Surrey for my friend’s wedding reception tomorrow. It was originally planned for May last year, then Covid stepped in, so they did get married in line with prevailing restrictions and the reception / party is tomorrow. It’s my first time out of Norfolk for 18 months and a 4 hour drive to boot. It’s been sooooooo wonderful to see T again and catch up, I’ve really missed her. This huge ‘anglepoise lamp’ where we were sitting made me laugh.

From 4am Sun 8th, the fully vaccinated amber rules will apply to France. Austria, Germany, Latvia, Norway, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia move to the green list. Bahrain, India, Qatar and UAE move to amber and Georgia, Mayotte, Mexico and Reunion more to red. The next travel update will be in 3 weeks. The jab has prevented 66,900 hospital admissions in the over 65's. Pings fall by 43% in Eng and Wales in a week. The US has administered 349m doses of vaccine to date. The Independent is reporting that the plan was 'lost' in Whitehall that was created by Govt in 2005 on how to respond to a coronavirus outbreak following the SARS outbreak. Evidently it warned of super-spreading events and the need for good ventilation - how unbelievably lax.
