Back with the Pudseys.
Out with the Pudseys today, and we were lucky with the weather again as it was warm and sunny. The rain that was forecast didn’t arrive until after we got home.
18 of us started out at Boston Spa near Wetherby.
Established as a spa town in 1744, when John Shires discovered sulphur springs, but declined when Harrogate became a more popular spa town.
The first photo on the collage shows the start of our walk at the 5 arched bridge built over the river Wharfe in 1770 and now being repaired.
An interesting path along the river, and through the woods. ( See bottom right photo.)
Then across the fields, where the path was now quite overgrown. Glad I had my long trousers on as there were a lot of brambles and nettles. There were some hardy folk in shorts!
( Bottom left photo.). Dave managed to disentangle the goat which had got it’s horns caught in the wire fence. Rather him than me. Those horns look lethal!
Next stop was the village of Clifford which is where we stopped for our picnic lunch.
Top Right photo is the tall tower of St Edward’s , King and Confessor. The Catholic Church built in 1845 - 1848 in the Romanesque style. The tower completed in 1867.
It was then just 2/ 3 miles back to the car again along the River Wharfe.
An enjoyable day out with our friends.
7 miles passes quickly when you are chatting with different people as you walk along.
Still glad to be back home with a cuppa, and later looking forward to a soak in the bath.
Must say thank you for all your kind comments, stars and hearts which put my little Peek a boo deer on to popular page one.
Must thank Mr C as he spotted it first.
