Pat Collins
Only a few rides in the park, hardly worth the name of a funfair. But Pat Collins fairs have a long history. He was born in Cheshire in 1859, moved to the Midlands in 1880 where he became one of the leading showmen of the day. A founding member of the Showmen’s Guild of Great Britain and then its president for a while. He was based in Bloxwich in Walsall and was briefly Walsall’s MP, a local councillor for over 20 years and mayor. Rumour has it that he turned down a knighthood! No longer a family run business, but still based in Walsall.
