Lush and Leafy

This elephant is located on the Moor, just as the A6 arrives in the town centre. To one side of the Moor is the main railway line.

In 1841 a stormy meeting was held where George Stephenson told of his plans to build a railway through the Moor, dividing it in two. It ended with Stephenson declaring that Luton would not have a railway connection to London in his lifetime, and he was a man of his word. Luton finally was connected to London by train in 1860, after Stephenson's death.

There's an extra.

Part of the celebrations of the 30th anniversary of the local hospice, as well as a fundraiser for them.

This one is described here.

The hospice is here.
