Slumbering ages old giants

It's hard to do the Howgills justice.
The play of light and shadow across them is as much a part of their beauty as the deeply cleft rounded backs of these ancient hills.
Oft, when we walk on the scar, a valley's width betwixt us,  they make me pause in admiration.
I seldom capture their specialness, though I'm always moved to try.
