Ride a White Swan
Stretching his neck out over the finishing line clinched it for Sydney in the AOGs (Alternate Olympic Games) here on Swan Lake this afternoon.
After defeating fierce opposition, powering over the finishing line it has to be said that he was the hero not only of the hour but of TSV - Team Swan Veterans - who were in the wings ....madly clapping applause. From where I was reporting I was nearly deafened with the positive squeals of delight from that end of the camp as they in unison cried and hollered their support and delight at Sydneys massive comeback after a shocking wing break on a power line last year.
It took Selena his long term partner quite a few moments to get over her tears before she lovingly rushed and embraced her love. Very moving as you can imagine and the couple were, yet again, beset by the paparazzi for pictures. I of course had mine in the bag, having covered Sydneys flighty at first then meteoric career from day one for Whoop Whoop, the magazine of choice for discerning swans. As you know.
Many things have happened these last couple of days: Dad is out of hospital and at home, Poppy is recovering after a week of trauma with a grass seed stuck behind her third eyelid which has been painful and gruesome and my birthday - yet another - has come and gone.
