The Three sisters: Dunquin day 2
A walk along a headland towards Ballyferriter in search on an obscure holy well - a small hollow in a rock - not found sadly but we gasped at all the jellyfish stranded on the strand. The weather held then we had to nip into Dingle to find two wells - the town was heaving. Himself gained brownie points for finding the tiny cross slab associated with the well, now cemented onto an obscure wall. The other well was in the grounds of the former convent. It was drizzling lashing quite hard by now but we found the well and marvelled at the wonderful gardens. Then we heard music! We followed it and there were two young women playing in a thatched sort of stage. A damp but enthusiastic crowd attended. We stayed to listen as they were very good.
I had a Dingle ice cream (mango) then we went and parked overlooking Ventry beach in the drizzle, eating some cheese and biscuits and watching the action - a surprising amount.
Back to Ballyferriter for supper (chips, salad and mush peas - mmm) and then the rain stopped and we walked up high on an amazing headland. The heather is out, those three swooping mountains are called the Three Sisters and here's some eerie music from the Blasket Islands to accompany viewing.
