Apollo
Today's the day ........................ to go on a mission
Galloway is famous as being a place with exceptionally dark skies at night, where it is possible to see stars and planets in the night sky. To celebrate this, there is a brand new attraction which opened in Kirkcudbright this week - The Dark Space Planetarium.
We paid it a visit today with good friends, John and Roma who are spending the weekend with us. The inside of what was the old Johnston School in Kirkcudbright has been transformed into a very exciting place full of interactive exhibits on all aspects of the universe and space travel. The extra is Will having a go at picking up moon rocks with a robotic arm.
We spent an hour there before we moved on to the 360° immersive Planetarium experience. We watched a film about the Apollo Mission to the moon which was so realistically 3-D that you found yourself clinging on to your seat as you looked down (or up) from a great height.
It was all excellently done - and is bound to be a popular destination for visitors to the town ...................
