That's what it looks like, but it's an above ground root, and a clump of grassy weeds. I noticed this on the path when I walked round the reservoir.

Extra is the Cormorant waiting for the teenagers to clear off home! Why they'd want to swim in that dirty water is beyond me. Adolescents! Feel like a grumpy old woman but they do put other walkers off, and of course take up the pontoons that really belong to the fishing club, and no one else (me) can go. on them.
