The old avenue
The lime trees in one of our three avenues are unwell and will now be replaced. The avenues are marked as cultural monuments and thus protected, they are from the end of the 19th century. Fourteen years ago, new trees have been grafted and now it is time for the new trees to come into place. A large job that will take two years. The whole street scene will be redone; the cars will have less space, there will be more grass and more space for pedestrians and cyclists. I wanted to take some photos of the old trees, because next week the removal of them will begin. I will never get to experience the new trees fully grown, so I take the opportunity to enjoy a little extra now.
Extra: To help the insects when the old trees are taken down, mulch nests have been set up in several places.
