...on how truly awful this book is, but i'll spare you, and let you off with a warning not to waste your money on Threshold.  it's hard to believe that Rob Doyle's first novel was included in Hot Press magazine's 'Twenty Greatest Irish Novels 1916 - 2016'.  having given it a fair go by reading 72 pages of this 'memoir', i'm giving it up because the Kindly Mister has got fed up with me reading out the very worst bits.
