I keep missing the Olympics
I need to get up early to catch some of the Olympics coverage. So far I have failed to do so. This was a cheerful reminder in Hexham today. The balloons are a G and a B, but they have been moved by the wind so are difficult to make out.
I was in Hexham for lunch with the other Marjorie. As usual she has been watching interesting programmes. One was about the Japanese artist, Yoyoi Kusama. Then she had watched the whole series about Hemmingway. It all sounded fascinating.
We had soup and a scone each. I was fascinated by the people who kept arriving at the café but were unable to comprehend the instructions about the number allowed in the queue or at a table.
On my way home, I called at Waitrose for tins of prunes. The shelves were bare. The assistant had no explanation but said "there must be a supply problem".
I'm delighted that replies to the party invitations are coming in quickly. They are nearly all enthusiastic acceptances. I did say that we assumed that everyone would be double jabbed and asked for a lateral flow test if possible. One reply surprised us by saying that the couple are not vaccinated so they can't come. It's a shame, but so be it. I need to keep Mum safe.
