Sibelius Monument

After hubby's barber and my physiotherapist appointment we packed and left to Helsinki with Peetu. We will stay two nights in the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel.

We had evening walk by the sea and we also went to see the Sibelius Monument. It is Eila Hiltunen's sculpyure and it is dedicated to Jean Sibelius (1865–1957).

Sibelius monument consists of series of more than 600 hollow steel pipes welded together in a wave-like pattern. The monument weighs 24 tonnes and measures 8.5 by 10.5 by 6.5 metres. Hiltunen's aim was to capture the essence of the music of Sibelius.
