Never Backwards
…in Latin, Numquam Retrorsum, is the motto on this oversize replica of a 1754 Brunsvig Thaler, sitting on the front wall of Holzminden’s savings bank, built in 1972. In that year, my parents had their own home built too, and today I accompanied my 90 years old father to substantiate my bank mandate because of his decline in strength, mentally and physically.
In the extras, a view of the town’s tax office, with a remembrance plaque for Rudolf Jahns, a famous painter who worked as a tax collector, his bread-and-butter job, thus living through the Nazi time, when he had been officially banned from artistic work.
