Deutsche Lebens-Rettungs-Gesellschaft e. V., (German Life Saving Association), the world's largest voluntary life-saving society with 560,000 members, 94 employees and 45,000 volunteers in 2,000 local clubs


It is separate from the "Deutsche Gesellschaft zur Rettung Schiffbrüchiger" (German Sea Rescue Society) which is responsible for life rescue at sea, in Germany this is at the 55 stations around the North & Baltic Seas and more comparable to the UK's RNLI. It is also not a State run or financed organisation, employing 290 full time & 1,500 volunteers.

Today they were practising at the local lakes where Luna and I had gone for the evening walk & paddle.
