PROSPECTING

My coneflowers are in prime shape and all the bees in the neighborhood know it. I've counted more than a dozen different kinds the past few days. Here's one I do not recognize but it clearly recognizes a good pollen patch when it sees one. It is not large but is probably half the size of a regular honey bee.

Initially, I thought it had stuffed pollen sacs on its legs but close examination reveals that the legs are just that color. Interesting.

I was just thinking....a lens, to a bee, must look like a giant eye staring at them. Yet they just go about their business unperturbed.

Much more clear in Large.
