The Fishing Expedition

Today is a day for banking business and after breakfast we headed off to St Andrews. The town is busy and parking can be challenging. In normal times I would park the car away from the town centre and walk in.

Pat is tired today and we park in South Street. The bank is very cool, well ventilated and quiet.

Back in the car, Pat suggests a trip to the Fishing Villages for a harbour side lunch.

I always find twisty routes to go anywhere and we eventually approach Anstruther. The sign for "Overflow Parking" indicates that the town is busy. It is, so we continue to Pittenweem which we know is busy and then to St Monans.

The town is quieter and we walk about. However, Monday is a day where the restaurants are closed!

Pat checks her phone and soon discovers that one of the local fish suppliers, David Lowrie,  is open for business. We quickly discover that he has a shop.

Leaving the "Little House of St Monans" we head to the Industrial Estate where David Lowrie is located.

For fish enthusiasts this is a great find. We spend a fair amount of money and twenty pleasant minutes chatting to David about many fish related matters and his range of produce.

He supplies many restaurants up the East side of Scotland all the way to Aberdeen. He has a van passing by us, virtually every day, and will deliver orders to us which is welcome news.

After we arrive home, Pat quickly prepares scallops and samphire for a rather late lunch.

Today’s Blipfoto is a detail of the gable end of a house in Forth Street which was formerly Coal Wynd.

Did I mention the chilled white wine which accompanied the fish?

The weather is changing, but much slower than the forecast thunderstorms.
