Bumblebee 1- crab spider 0
I thought it was best to announce the results immediately so that the fainter of hearts (like mine) were not preoccupied: No bumblebee was hurt during the photographing. The crab spider moved too slowly among the florets of a bergamot flower -the photo shows the closest he could get to the bumblebee that was totally nonchalant and ignorant of the hidden danger and just went on with its business as usual moving from floret to floret, away from the crab-spider that had completely miscalculated its possibilities. Eventually the bumblebee flew off to a different bergamot flower and the crab spider continued to practice patience and maybe it enjoyed some bergamot nectar as a strategy to survive starvation as the hunting did not go as planned!
