Hoorn
After a terrible night with hardly any sleep in a tent that turned out to be too small, we left the camping at 04.30 for a sunrise shoot.
Getting up this early wasn't hard, it was a relief to be able to stretch my legs again.
We went to the Markerwaarddijk. Halfway to be exact, to the Trintelhaven.
Our plan was to capture long exposures of phishing nets in the IJsselmeer with hopefully a nice sunrise behind it. We had a blast! See the extra section for 2 photos of the sunrise.
Back on the camping at 08.00 am. We had a nice hot shower and after that we broke down our tents (to never put them up again), emptied our air mattresses and then went to the McCafe nearby for breakfast. Coffee, jus d'orange, croissants and McMuffin Bacon and Egg.
We then plotted a course to Marken, because we wanted to capture the lighthouse Paard van Marken during tomorrows sunrise.
When we arrived on Marken the first thing we noticed was that the lighthouse was hidden in scaffolding. Oh no!!!
After some searching on google, we learned that the scaffolding was put up just a few days ago. Painting has to be done.
What a pity. We had to change our plans.
Willy W. told us via Instagram that she'd known all about the scaffolding.... aahhhh!!!
New destination: Hoorn.
We arranged a hotel in Hoorn for the upcoming night. The tents were just not an option any more.
We arrived there around 14.00. After the check in at Hotel Keizerskroon, we scouted the city and the harbour in particular. We would do the sunset at the Hoofdtoren. The sun would set right behind it. With some clouds this could provide some nice views.
Because we had a very bad night, we stayed in our hotelroom in the afternoon and dozed off for a short while.
But, from 20.30 until dark we spent our time near the chosen location, the beautiful Hoofdtoren at the entrance of the harbour.
The lack of clouds, and a few boys that used the small square in front of the tower as their private football field, didn;t make things easier for us. But patience and another ice tea green on a terrace worked out. When everybody was gone, we had the place all to ourselves during the blue hour.
