The Sacred kingfisher ( Halcyon Sancta )
Kingfishers are frequently seen perched on post tops or other high vantage points where they are able to spot prey. They come down to the coastal. areas and Estuaries in winter where they are often seen swooping for crabs.. Flax bushes or branches are often a good vantage points. Nests are made n holes dug into rotting trees or clay banks. usually lays 4-5 pure white eggs.
