Kinloss Abbey Burial Ground.

The earlier grabes in the burial ground attached to Kinloss Abbey include several with wonderfully idiosyncratic winged souls. Each example is subtly different in details of facial expression and, often eccentric, hairstyle. The winged souls mainly date from the 18th century and appear on the ends of table stones. They represent the soul leaving the body.

The these old gravestones contrast with the precisely regimented rows of beautifully maintained Commonwealth War Graves Commission stones - mainly dating from the Second World War and commemorating young airmen from RAF Kinloss.
