Saumur Puy Notre Dame

The monk depicted on this vineyard sign is today the symbol that represents the wines from the appellation of Saumur - Puy Notre Dame. The monk is shown drinking from a barrel and the original can be seen carved in wood on the Misericordia inside the church of Le Puy Notre Dame a short walk across the vineyards from La Grande Maison.
