Serried ranks
Poor Jeaniebean lost out to the raspberries today. She had a walk which by recent standards was miserably short, so that I could spend the day sorting out the two rows of raspberry canes.
The two rows produce an annual crop which weighs more than a large dog. This means I’m more than prepared to spend a couple of days in winter untying and cutting out old canes, tying in those that will bear fruit this year, applying a good dollop of manure and giving them all a good water.
The work transforms a chaotic raspberry mess (see the extra) to a double row of neat canes which always leaves me awfully pleased with myself.
Tomorrow I’ll add the manure…
