I'm sure there is a wine bar round here somewhere
After yesterday's wine glass - here is not only the way to the Blackriars wine bar, an establishment I am yet to visit, but more impressively, is the magnificent engraved sign to the old entrance to Blackfriars railway station in Blackfriars road.
These large carved murals were erected after the opening in 1864. However it did not last long as this entrance was closed 5 years later. The Bridge and surrounded area were heavily damaged in the Blitz and by a V2 rocket in December 1944.
The new Blackfriars station was refurbished in 2005, and is very practical, but like the sign to the Wine Bar, lacks the confidence and skill of the Victorian preprocessors
