Poulnabrone dolmen

This amazing portal tomb sits on top of the limestone pavement of the Burren and has incredible views all around it. It dates from the Neolithic period and when excavated was found to contain the remains of 22 adults and 6 children.  We had to dodge the hoards of coach parties arriving at regular intervals - luckily they all flocked out , took pictures of each other and flocked back again within the space  of about 10 minutes.
