Let the games begin

The Olympics begin today in Tokyo. We very much doubt whether they should be happening at all. But as they are, and since they are part of our present reality, we have decided to get into the spirit and watch.

Actually, we felt like that about the Sydney games in 2000, and look what a fabulous success they were.

This is Tokyo Tower, taken when we visited Japan in 2017. It is 333m tall and was opened in 1958 as a symbol of postwar recovery. And yes, it was modelled on that other one in Paris (where the next games will be held).
