Spuds and a campfire

Did you toss spuds onto the embers of a campfire when you were growing up? We lit our outdoor fire last night and decided to do just that - only we did wrap them in foil first. They tasted so awesome. It brought back all those memories of lighting a campfire on the riverbank at Opihi River when we were children. We'll do this again and next time we'll cook sausages too. Not sure if we'll cook them on a grill over the embers or on a willow stick - like real camping.

Bet you can't do this on the riverbed these days.

I wonder how many kids today know that taste of spuds cooked in the embers.
