Golden Barley Hotel
A lot of Sydney pubs were built or rebuilt in the 1930s and early ‘40s, in Art Deco style. They were beautiful, streamlined and functional, with large island bars to serve drinkers who poured in, then out at 6 when last drinks were called.
I took the scenic route home, getting off one stop early and walking through Sydenham and Enmore. It was a fine time of day, and a shame the pubs were closed - except for takeaway.
Called in at a bottle shop closer to home.
