A Bridge Too Far, Rochester

This is a bit of a back blip as I was just too tired to write or post it on the actual day. I think I took this on Tuesday which was an eventful day, particularly on the way home. My normal route home is a direct train on the Ashford route but just before I was about to leave work I though I'd better do a final check to see it was running. It was a good job I did as the line was flooded due to torrential rain from a big thunderstorm At this point I had to put my thinking cap on and try and find an alternative route. I eventually came up with Charing Cross to Strood and then change to catch the train to Aylesford. It looked relatively simple, so off I trotted to the underground and two journeys later I was at Charing Cross and just made the correct train, which then trundled very slowly in some places until it finally reached Strood. When I got there there was, of course, no connecting train for at least forty minutes! My joy was unbounded. So I phoned my brother and he agreed to come and pick me up from Rochester which is  just over the river from Strood. Hence, today's image is the bridge I crossed to get there! All in all it took three hours to get home.
Yesterday, it was the morning journey that became anxiety inducing - our eight carriage rush hour train had been shortened to four and by the time we got to Bromley South it was far too busy with far too many people for my liking not wearing masks (not expressing their personal responsibility - i.e. being selfish idiots). At this point I decided to get off because it just didn't feel safe. I 've worked and travelled into London through two of the three lockdowns and this is the first time I've felt like this. I was really angry that they let the service run knowing full we couldn't socially distance, there was no ventilation and there were quite a few morons not wearing masks. A member of the train crew even expressed his dismay at the situation and said he would file a report. I really hope he did because they put people in needless danger.
It's now just after three o'clock on Thursday morning and I'm doing my blip now because I can't sleep due to the humidity and a bit of Covid anxiety after yesterday's event. So, as I'm awake, but strangely exhausted at the same time, I thought I'd do another lateral flow test just to make sure - luckily it's negative. I'm off to try and get some sleep!
