Gathering Place

This is a favorite gathering spot on the Kennebec River in Hallowell. The generous number of colorful chairs are set up every summer for residents and visitors to use until they disappear late fall to be tucked away for the winter • It’s unusual to see it empty but it was fairly early in the morning. In fact the sky was overcast before I added the bright blue cheerful sky! • The chairs invite all kinds of people and activities. Some read, many spend their lunch hour here or consume their takeout meals, early birds watch the sunrise with a warm drink, friends rearrange the chairs in a circle to maximize their interactions, of course there are plenty of photographers roaming about the deck too, while couples young and old place their chairs together until they touch • Hallowell is a welcoming community with its diversity, antique shops, quaint restaurants and pubs. Hallowell enjoys celebrating life which makes it a most popular and beloved place to live and visit. We come to this place often but have yet to return to our favorite pub. Unfortunately it won’t be any time soon…
