First attempt

I went on a photography course at the weekend to learn how to use my DSLR properly (i.e. not on Auto setting!). Think something clicked with me that day and it now seems to make sense...

So here is my first picture, my girlfriends orchid on the living room windowsill. It's very gloomy today so didn't fancy a trip out. This looked like a good shot.

Bit disappointed that the centre of the flower isn't in focus, but I used manual focus for the first time (and I am still learning...)
