Unsurprisingly I was unable to sleep.
Even with windows and doors left wide open, there wasn't a breath of air.
Adding to the misery was the constant calling of a nearby lamb and ewe. Somehow they must have been separated and spent all night reassuring each other. :-/
Consequently, whenJD took Jorgie for her morning walk at 5am, I got out too and headed up to the barns in the hope of seeing a barn owl hunting in the dawn light or a couple of hares doing their thing in one of the fields.
Once again the heat seemed to suppress any activity and I had to be content with 'my trees' showing up their skeletal shapes against the dawn sky.
I've spent the rest of the day feeling knackered as the temps have risen to 30 degrees.
