Buzzing

I spent a little while in the front garden photographing bees on the lavender (see Extras) and then thought I'd sit in under the parasol in the back garden for a while with Hector. I noticed a lot of buzzing and, when I looked up, saw this wasp's nest under the eaves just outside the dining room. So, of course, I took a picture and then rang the pest controller who, fortunately, was able to come straight over and deal with it. I'm surprised we hadn't noticed it before, really.

Then, just when I thought all was calm again, I noticed a load of flying ants on the front doorstep and flying around the garden! It's safer indoors today - but far too hot. Looking forward to the cooler weather in a couple of days, I can tell you.
