LILY BEETLE LARVA

Spotted this larva on one of my day lilies.  I knew what it was immediately as I saw Lily beetles last year too and I had to Google to find out what they were.  The larvae resemble slugs.  The heads are black and their bodies can be orange or brown.   After 16-24 days they will enter the soil to pupate. New adults emerge in 16-22 days and they will feed until Autumn. They overwinter in the soil or plant debris. The best way to get rid of the larvae or adults is to pick them off and squash them.  That was the fate of my blip subject.  I will keep checking my lilies as there are sure to be more of these little pests.  Thanks to osuzanna for hosting Tiny Tuesday.

Had a lazy-ish day today.  Weather was warm again but not quite so sunny.  Around 5pm I walked down to slimming club.  It was fairly busy this week.  Some of the rules have changed due to " Freedom Day " being announced yesterday.  You don't need to wear a mask whilst sitting down - but most members still wore theirs.  Tea and coffee making facilities returned ... bring your own cup.  " Slimmer of the Week" basket returned.  Each member brings some syn free or low syn food to put in the basket and the " slimmer of the week " wins the goodies. Good to get back to some normality after so long.  I lost 1½ pounds this week.  Very pleased with that result.
