Boulby Mine Sculpture- near Staithes.

Lovely walk along the Cleveland Way- north from Staithes . Stopped on the way to take a photo of this wonderful sculpture of a potash miner having his tea. This would normally be happening nearly a mile underground and a couple miles out to sea!!! Boulby Mine is the largest and deepest mine in the UK and has 620 miles of road underground!! The statistics are mind boggling. There is also a laboratory 3600 feet underground, which is , among many other uses, used by NASA!
