Life through the lens...

Swan family

We took our friend A to Roundhay Park today, especially to see the Alhambra Garden, as we visited the original Alhambra with her and her late husband 11 years ago. We had been telling her how beautiful this one was.
( see Blip 22nd July 2014)
However we were rather disappointed as because of Covid the garden was overgrown, and neglected. See extra.
Hopefully by next year the gardens will be looking pristine once again.

We did enjoy lunch sat outside the Mansion House, where a dragonfly landed on my hat.

Afterwards a walk round the lake, which is where we saw this young man feeding the swans. The parents seemed quite happy, and no hissing or flapping of wings as we passed by.

It was very quiet everywhere, until we got to the bottom carpark, which was full.
Near by, on the grass, and amongst the trees there were large gatherings with barbecues and picnics.
Later we found out it was the beginning of the Muslim celebration Eid al - Adha.
The traditional feast includes sharing a sheep or goat with others. We didn’t see either on the BBQs, but may be burgers and lamb chops.
Lovely to see all the families enjoying themselves.

Back home we sat out in the garden, in the shade, and enjoyed a Magnum each. Cooled us down as it has been another very hot day.
Temp. up to 32C in Leeds.

Lovely to spend the day with A.chatting, laughing and catching up. Things gradually getting back to normal.
