Tzigane
It's all happening here now ... Lézignan had its first open-air cinema of the season this evening. It was preceded by a a band playing what was described as "musique tzigane". I'm always up for a bit of gipsy music, so I thought it was worth a try. It turned out to be a group of three, featuring the young woman who sometimes busks at the market. She's an amazing violinist, her fingers twinkling at the speed of light, and seems to have an endless repertoire of music that she knows by heart. The other two musicians were pretty average, so she was clearly the star of the show. After I'd listened to them while sipping a glass of rosé, I couldn't be bothered to hang around another half hour for the film to start, so I went home.
Lézignan is such a dismal scene in the evenings: run-down and shabby, most of the bars and restaurants closed, streets deserted, and only a handful of people listening to the band. Yes, I know it's Monday, but it's the middle of summer -- it should be better than this. In other news, the new team at the Mairie has abandoned the grandiose plans for renovating the town centre while continuing to dish out planning permission for extending the commercial zones on the edges of town.
Meanwhile S was in a brighter place earlier today!
