Amber weather warning

It’s hot hot hot

Watering the plants enough but not too much to bring about mildew etc etc is quite a skill. I lost quite a few plants last year from overwatering in hot conditions. I hope I’ve got the balance this year. I’m only watering half the plants at a time!

My melon plant is starting to show signs of a desire to live rather than just exist. . .

Too hot to start thinning stuff in the raised bed. I suspect it will just wilt.

I’ve rescued a sunflower that partially snapped and then half the stem was eaten by a slug as it lay in the ground. I’ve strapped it up with cable ties and watered it like my life depended on it. I’m genuinely flummoxed that it’s verticals and thriving. I’ve lost about 6 huge leaves and a couple of branches.

The outdoor basil is now the only thing not working out well - who’s idea was that?! Er mine

MrH landed in Italy and made his way to his hotel via a hire car. I’m glad and I can relax now knowing I don’t need to read any lore letters, websites, forms, schedules for at least a while.
