Memories for sale
Today F's daughter and son in law came to visit him. They were interested in Morda Methodist Chapel that is up for sale.
My mum used to be the organist here and when she died a plaque was hung inside blipped here. F said that the last time he saw her, two days before she died he'd taken her to chapel. He stood at the gate and said "Now don't you go getting into trouble" (they had a great relationship) and she said "What trouble can an 88 year old get up to?"
A few years later I took over her role as they were without an organist and continued until it was closed last year due to mounting expenses and an average congregation of about three. There will be people in Morda with happy memories of the chapel, the regulars had been going since children at Sunday School.
The building and Sunday School will be up for auction soon and F's family wanted to have a look. I don't think that they'll put in a bid though, it will need a lot of work doing. It will make a lovely home for someone as the arched windows and decorated brickwork are beautiful.
