Drummin to Shesgnan

We had another picnic day out. We set off from Drummin at the east entrance to the Corrieyairack Pass. I think Yairack is already a corruption of Dearg (pronnounced jerrack) meaning red. We veared south of this holding the north side of the River Spey. This is the very upper reaches of this mighty river and by this point is perceived as a benign little burn. It is fed by dozens of tributaries in this last few miles so becomes big very quickly.
My late father often spoke about the remote cottage at Shesgnan and how its roof slates had been salvaged for other projects. I anticipated coming to a ruined shell. The land owners have obviously refurbished it and stands wind and watertight again.
While we drove about an hour by road for the walk starting point, had we walked another 5 or 6k westward we would have come to Luib Chonnal, yesterday's destination. With the benefit of a drop off taxi, it would be a fine walk (or cycle) back to Roy Bridge through this wonderful wilderness.
