200th Blip Anniversary

This is a shady Henconner Lane part of the original Earl of Mexborough estate. It has survived the 1930's semi-detached & town house builds of the surrounding Henconners.

I went for a meander with my camera shortly before 8am. The sun was gently warming as I walked east toward it. The streets were pleasingly quiet allowing me to walk in the road and where I liked.

No Sport on Sunday today, sure no fool would run around in this heat!
Even if there was said fool/s I had no intention of being out in the Midday Sun to snap them at it.

My Sq meter challenge that I took up in February came to nowt! almost immediately the pond drained dry, why! So the blip of the frog spawn amongst the reeds & flags became a battle for survival, a few tadpoles developed and swam into the sludge;  but there wasn't much  to show for my first attempt at a blip challenge.

In March I started my Five-month- project tag. This started with pallets, staging, the garden (the ivy) having a heavy duty cut-back. The purchase of gravel, sand, bricks.  The movement of these items, well the attempt to move these items from the driveway round to the garden was too much for me, My right knee (ligaments, soft tissue injury) gave out, I realised how less able to lift & carry heavy objects I was compared to April 2020 when I worked on landscaping the garden then. The gravel got put down, bricks were laid to widen a potting area.  I started to cut the turf to create a level area for a planned path. Enough.

My garden has flourished regardless of the five month project enjoying a summer hiatus.  The pond has refilled twice due to torrential rainfall so  flags and iris appeared, but sadly no froglets or newts.  We enjoyed a feast of Raspberries and Strawberries, still eating our spuds, Broad beans and peas. The alliums have been gigantic, the sweet peas delicious, the Dublin Bay Rose pretty. I have mowed the grass only twice, perhaps 3 time this season.

In England April 12th saw some Lockdown Restrictions being lifted which meant the resumption of outdoor team sports on Scott Hall Playing fields.  Sport on Sunday tag allowed me to enjoy watching men & women at play and training for Football, Hurling and Gaelic football, Cricket  at the Caribbean Cricket Club, then Rugby League kicked in.  I  have scouted further afield to blip Tag Rugby, angling, cyclists.

Thank you to everyone who reads this, for all the stars, comments and faves.  Blipfoto has given me the opportunity to reflect on the past two hundred days, day by day we have left behind the snow and icyness of winter to the great heat of Summer.  Day by Day we get through the Coronavirus Pandemic and Lockdown.  We are told tomorrow is Freedom Day.  Freedom to take walks, swim, carry and use a camera, wear a mask, eat and drink outdoors weather permitting, comply with the rules when required.

Love your blips and words, just keep rolling.
