Fritillaria stenanthera

Fritillaria stenanthera is an early-blooming member of section Rhinopetalum from West to Central Asia. Typical plants have light pink flowers. These were raised from seed sown twelve years ago and have now established a nice potful although the colour varies from a nice soft pink to a rather wishy-washy, almost white.

The Rhinopetalum group of fritillaries have open, bell shaped flowers with deeply impressed nectaries which appear as humps on the back of the flower, hence the name which comes from rhino, a nose.
