Dartmouth, again
It was another hot and sunny day. After breakfast we spent the morning wandering around Dartmouth, we then caught the ferry across the River Dart to Kingswear and had a bit of a wander around there enjoyed the views back on to Dartmouth. It was too hot to go for any long walk and Xena was suffering a bit in the heat, so we picked up a few things at M&S for lunch and went back to the barn to eat lunch and relax.
The owner of the barn had kindly given us a freshly baked Victorian sponge cake, freshly baked scones, home made strawberry jam and clotted cream. I managed to find some gluten free scones in M&S and after a light lunch we all enjoyed a scone with jam and cream (which was enjoyable as I seldom eat cake or scones (clotted cream on the scone first topped by jam, its the only way and this also happens to be the Devon way!)
Adam worked after lunch, he has a research report to write, while Pip managed to speak to a doctor as she hurt her foot before coming to Devon and needed advice (she is going to an injury unit tomorrow) and Gavin and I took Xena for another walk. The lanes are so narrow around here it takes ages to get anywhere as usually you are waiting for a car to pass, plus it is currently hay making season so tractors with bales of hay are trying to get past cars in a very narrow space which I find quite stressful. We visited the Dartmouth Castle and then walked to see two coves with pretty secluded beaches. This is the view of the River Dart with Dartmouth on the left, and all the sailing boats. An extra of sailing boats at Kingswear, and another extra of Xena and I.
We had supper out again tonight at a wonderful restaurant called Anzac Bistro where the playlist of music could have been lifted straight off my iPhone as it was ‘my era’ of music from years gone by - Peter Frampton, Eagles, Gerry Rafferty, Leo Sayer, oh my word I thought I was back in high school. Also good to note that dogs are very welcome here, so far every restaurant has allowed Xena inside. She was so well behaved at dinner tonight, we had other customers commenting on that.
Another hot day tomorrow - yet it is a bit cooler than at home so I am grateful for that.
