Grimethorpe.

We had an early start today. Darren wanted something from B&Q, it wasn’t in stock in the Wakefield store so he had to drive out to Cortonwood retail park. As he knew It was going to be very hot today we came very early, he’d bought what he wanted before 8 am. He’d checked google maps to see if there was anything nearby he could drive to to take me for my morning walk. He settled on this nature reserve at Grimethorpe. This used to be where Grimethorpe colliery was, until it was close in 1993. The land was left to nature and now it’s used for recreational walks. It’s quite nice, though Darren would only go to it again if he was in the area. If you have ever watched the film “Brassed off”, that was based on Grimethorpe colliery brass band and was filmed in the area, it’s a great film if you ever get the chance to watch it.
On our way back home we called at Wortley hall and had a swift 30/40 minute walk, it was lovely.
