Journey's End

Back in February 2020 I set out to walk the 35-mile length of the Forth and Clyde Canal from east to west, having previously done a west-to-east crossing in the autumn of 2018. For reasons about which we are all too aware, it took me a little longer than anticipated.

Anyway, a friend and I met on the train into Glasgow on Friday and we then took another train to Clydebank, our starting point for this last short stretch of the Canal. Coffee was taken, then we had a wee wander about Clydebank before walking back up to the Canal and heading west.

Another wee detour along the way to visit The Saltings Local Nature Reserve and then it was on to Bowling and journey's end. Here at Lock 40 the Canal joins the River Clyde.

It was a good day out in the warmth of the summer sun (not always a feature of July in the West of Scotland!) and my friend and I had a good chat along the way  As always with these things, the journey is often more important than the destination.
