Library Books

After swimming Carys and I went to the library so that I could try her on some 'chapter' books that aren't the magic ballerina books. Lovely though Darcey Bussells books are, I think she needs to branch out a little. Out of the (very poor) selection the library had this is what she chose. She can read the Shirley Edwards and the Morpurgo herself but we decided that the delights of Mildred Hubble could be a bedtime story, as there are a few tricky mickey words in it.

After that we needed a few odds and ends in town so we did that and then she was offered a babychino, she bartered for a hot chocolate but lost, so babychino it was, whist she read her reading books from school (homework done) and we waited for the worst of the rain to pass.

On the way home we stopped in a the local bike shop to see what size bike Carys would be when she out grows her Sparkle. It won't be long now as the seat has just gone up to it's highest point. So Paul tried her on a 20", no probs, and then on a 24". Scarily she was fine on that, although it looked like the bike was riding her rather than the other way round. He was a little surprised when he asked how old she was and she said 5! He thought she was older than that as most people do. Now we plan t get her out on the little bike as much as possible before she out grows it so the extra size doesn't spook her when we finally get her the next bike.

All the while Daddy and W had been to N&P's for a play and then dropped them off at the airport for a week in Lanzarote. They chose a good week to go. So the afternoon was spent playing on the computer, playing at dens inthe conservatory and playing at Doctors until we all sat down to watch the mighty Wales walk all over an England team who didn't seem to turn up. Carys and William were both cheering on the correct team and Jim even ended up wanting Wales to win! Explain that one if you can?

So late to bed for the children, it could be interesting tomorrow.
