CHAPEL

This is the Chapel of Rest in the Yorkshire village of Brompton-by-Sawdon. A listed building, it contains an unwelcome surprise next door. In 1880 the newly-appointed vicar instigated a series of improvements . . . including the closure of the original churchyard. This new Chapel and Cemetery was financed by one Sir George Cayley .  .. he is the Father of Aviation as the first ever glider flight took place from here.
