Meadow Brown?

A few chores this morning and then I walked up to my friend's for "a glass of water".  She was up to her elbows in blackcurrant jam making and just adding the screw tops to the jars, one of which I have brought home.

We are very concerned for our other friend, who was seeing the consultant this morning and hopefully we'll know what's what a bit later on.  Family come first.

I finished Nicci French's "House of Correction" yesterday and found it a thoroughly good read. 

I know someone will tell me what this is, although I'm pretty sure it's a Meadow Brown, which has been flitting around the Spirea.  I wish I'd had my camera at my friend's, where a Brimstone was enjoying her Verbena.
